Which is better? Plastic or Fiberglass?

The answer... M and M Performance Bodywork

M & M Performance Bodywork is made from the finest virgin ABS plastic available. Unlike other plastic bodies, there's no regrind used here. Our bodies come right out of the mold with a gel-coat type finish. Scratches don't show because the color goes all the way through and ABS plastic is easy to repair compared to fiberglass. Most scratches and cracks can be repaired quickly with inexpensive ABS plastic cement and a heat gun.

What is regrind?

Regrind comes from the excess material that is removed from a product after it has been molded. This material is then "reground" and melted again to make another product. This process allows for impurities to get into the plastic that dull its finish and reheating causes the plastic to become brittle. It's a little cheaper but definitely not something that you want on your kart!

M & M Performance Bodywork feature a 2 piece nose construction. Other bodies are formed by stretching the material to it's thinnest point at the very front edge of the nose. M & M forms a floor pan first, molding in several indentations that strengthen the nose for side impact. Then the top piece is formed and sonic welded to the floor pan at the bumper area. This gives you double the material thickness, right where you need it most, instead of half.

Fiberglass is strong, but it's heavy. To make it light, you have to make it thin. Used plastic and thin fiberglass all ad up to one thing - busted up bodies, or worse yet, unfinished races. You've got to finish all the laps if you want to win and that is what M & M Performance Bodywork is made to do.
